Warriors fall on final day in Florida

The Winona State baseball team saw their losing streak extend to four games after a 3-2 loss to the Florida Southern Mocs on Tuesday night.

Florida Southern struck first, scoring one run in each of the first three innings.

Derek Martin hit a solo blast to left field in the seventh to try and spark the Warriors offense.

Down 3-1 going into the final inning, the Warriors tried to mount a comeback. Sam Kohnle and Tanner Williams hit back to back singles to begin the inning. Back to back sacrifice flies were used to score pinch runner Mitchell Seager to cut the lead to 3-2, but Williams was caught stealing the very next play to end the game.

Martin went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the game while Kohnle went 2-for-4.

Bailey Banaszynski (0-1) took the loss for the Warriors.

Winona State won't play again until Saturday when they face Minnesota Crookston in both their conference and home opener. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. in Winona.
