Coach Reilly reaches milestone on final day in Florida

Winona State tennis head coach Heather Reilly (formerly Heather Pierce) reached the 100 win mark in the Warriors' afternoon victory over Quincy. Reilly is the first WSU tennis coach in recorded history to reach the coveted century mark. Reilly, a former NSIC Player of the Year in her own right, became the head coach of the Warriors prior to the 2011-12 season and has led WSU to an above .500 record in five of her eight full seasons at the helm.

Winona State swept their final day in Florida, coming away with a 7-0 victory against Shippensburg and closing out the trip with a quality 6-1 win over Quincy.

Winona State went 4-2 in Florida and will head home with a 10-4 overall record.

The Warriors napped the doubles point against Shippensburg with wins from the duos of Mya Lubin and Caitlin Anderson (6-1) and Faith Young and Brooke Holloway (6-0).

The Warriors swept the singles matches, with Audrey Delich being the only Warrior to go three sets with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 victory at #1 singles. Brooke Jorgensen (6-1, 6-1) and Faith Young (6-1, 6-0) both dominated in their victorys at #2 and #3 singles. Caitlin Anderson won a hard fought 6-4, 6-3 match at #4 singles, and Mya Lubin won 6-1, 6-2 at #5 singles. Brook Holloway closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-4 win at #6 singles.

In their match against Quincy, Winona State swept the doubles matches to get the opening point.

Kendra Kappes (6-1, 6-0) cruised to victory in her match at #2 singles  and Kaisey Skibba followed suit with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #3 singles. Rachel Kelly won 6-0, 6-2 at #4 singles, Tayla Card was a 6-1, 6-0 victor at #5 singles, and Rina Niehoff put the icing on the cake with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 win at #6 singles.

Winona State will have a week and a half off before they resume conference play against Upper Iowa. The match will take place at the Winona Tennis Center on Sunday, March 22 at 9:30 a.m.
