SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. - Lindsay Cunningham claimed her third race title in a row and Josh Jarpey earned his first individual championship at the 2021 Waxlax Invitational cross country meet, hosted by St. Cloud State University on Thursday, Oct. 7. 

Jarpey ran a 25:35.1 time on the 6K course, finishing nearly minute ahead of Nikolai Schmanski and Ray Ure of Minnesota State - Mankato.  Isaiah Warning took fourth for Winona State at 26:29, while Warrior teammate Mitchell Buerkle was sixth at 26:46.8. Micah Warning was 11th at 27:06.6. Wyatt Taylor was fifth for WSU at 27.11.2  As a team, Winona State claimed a second place finish, with the Mavericks taking the team title, Concordia - St. Paul in third place and Southwest Minnesota State fourth overall. 

For Lindsay Cunningham, her third victory of the season was also a key component of a runner-up team finish for the Warriors, in a field of six programs. MSU-Mankato claimed top honors with a team score of 31, while Winona State earned 34. Host St. Cloud State was third and Bemidji State, Concordia St. Paul and Southwest Minnesota State rounded out the field. 

Cunningham turned in a 21:25.7 for the win, while McKenna Taylor (22:20.3), Allison Hendrickson (23:00.1) and Kaylee Beyer (23:31.4) placed in the top ten in fourth, sixth and 10th, respectively. Nikki Kelley was the fifth WSU runner at 23:46.5. 

Both the men's and women's programs will be back in action for Winona State at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Championships on Saturday, Oct. 23 in Wayne, Neb.
