Warrior Game Day: Women's Soccer

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University women's soccer team hits the road today for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contests, as the Warriors will take on Concordia - St. Paul on Friday Oct. 8 and Minnesota State - Mankato on Sunday, Oct. 10.

The Warriors (3-5 / 2-4 NSIC) will be facing both squads for the first time in nearly two years and the weekend matches mark just the third and fourth time Winona State will have played away from home this season.

Concordia - St. Paul is 4-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in NSIC play. The Golden Bears are led in scoring by Katie Anderson who has six goals on the year.  In goal, CSP's Jessi Jordan has logged 722 minutes, making 32 saves along the way. Jordan has earned all four of Concordia St. Paul's wins so far this year.  Winona State will be looking to end a three-game Golden Bear winning streak; the two teams combined for six total goals in a 4-2 WSU loss on Sept. 22, 2019, the last time the two teams faced off.

Minnesota State - Mankato is 6-2-1 overall and sits 4-1-1 in league action. The Mavericks are in the midst of a four game unbeaten streak and have earned shutouts in their past three matches. MSU-Mankato goalkeepers Clare Longueville and Mackenzie Rath have both seen significant time in goal, with Longueville owning a 4-1 record and 1.06 GAA. Rath has gone 2-1-1 in her four games with a pair of shutouts. Offensively, Jenny Vetter leads the team with five goals and one assist on the year.

Winona State is looking to snap a two-game skid, having had two tough road matches at North Dakota, dropping a pair of 1-0 defeats to Minot State and UMary, respectively. Emily Chudik and Riley Harmon are tied for the team lead in goals with two each, while Ellie Wardell has notched four assists this season. Missy Greco has two assists, while Jamie Kwon, Ella Roberts, Jaida Wiege and have scored on the year.  Alyson Jumper and Yanel Ortiz have both conceded five goals each, across eight games.
