MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Winona State University men's basketball team will take on Minnesota State University - Moorhead this afternoon in a non-conference contest when they travel to the Dragons for a 1pm tip-off.
The Warriors (3-1, 0-1 NSIC) will face MSU-M (5-3, 1-0 NSIC) in the first of two games WSU will play in Moorhead as Winona State returns to the court following the Thanksgiving holiday. Both sides opened up NSIC play earlier this week, with WSU falling to Upper Iowa, 85-72 while the Dragons defeated Northern State, 75-65 at home. Head coach

Warrior - Dragons Notables:
WSU and MSUM have combined for a close series rivalry in recent years. The Dragons own a slight advantage in wins over the last 13 meetings (7-6), with the Warriors winning most recently, 89-77 on Jan. 3, 2020.
Alec Rosner, Devin Whitelow, Luke Martens and Nick Klug are the only current Warriors who have played against MSU-Moorhead.
Four Warriors reached double digits in the WSU loss to UIU on Tuesday; Alec Rosner (15), Owen King (14), Devin Whitelow (13) and Luke Martens (12).
Alec Rosner played 39 of the game's 40 minutes vs. UIU, while Luke Martens logged 36.
At 4-3 heading into the weekend, MSU-Moorhead has faced three nationally ranked teams already this year; Daemen College (RV), West Texas A&M (#3) and Colorado Mesa (#5).
MSUM and Winona State have faced off 157 times, with MSUM winning 76, Winona State 81.
The Dragons were an impressive 17-of-17 from the free throw line as a team in against Colorado Mesa on Oct. 31.
Gavin Baumgartner is key scoring threat for the Dragons, scoring over 1,260 points in his career so far. The junior hit for 32 points in the MSU-M win over Mayville State earlier this season.
NSIC coaches selected the Dragons as most likely to win the NSIC North; they feature NSIC North Preseason Player of the Year Lorenzo McGhee.
Head coach Chad Walthall is in his 12th season at Moorhead, coming into the 2021-22 season with a 225-111 record with the Dragons. He previously coached at NCAA Division III Loras College.
