TOPEKA, Kan. - The Winona State University men's golf team claimed a ninth place finish at the Washburn Invitational, held at the Topeka Country Club on Sept. 13-14.
Playing in their first event of the 2021-22 season, the Warrior men were led by
Brady Holland, who fired a three-round score of 222, finishing in a tie for 19th overall. Also finishing in the top-35 for the competition were
Dylan Brown Matthew Chandler who both finished at 227 and tied at 33.
Abraham Elmore was fourth for WSU, carding a 230 and finishing 48th.
Gabe Goodman and
Matt Turner rounded out the Winona State lineup with scores of 236 and 239, respectively.
Winona State finished the highest of all Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) teams in the field, with Concordia - St. Paul placing 12th, Minnesota - Crookston 14th, Upper Iowa 16th and Sioux Falls 18th. Arkansas Tech won the event with a team score of 863. Washburn's Dawson Wills was the medalist, with a three-round score of 211, two under par.
The Warriors are next in action on Monday, Sept. 21 when they open play at the Northeastern State (Okla.) University Invite in Tahlequah, Okla.
