MAPLEWOOD, Minn. – The Winona State University men's golf team concluded play at the Northeastern State 23rd Annual NSU Golf Classic on Tuesday, Sept. 21, competing against one of the top NCAA Division II fields in the region.
The Warriors placed 12th out of 18 programs at the Muskogee Golf Course, scoring 881 as a team, just 3 strokes behind SE Oklahoma State at 878.
Leading Winona State in the event was
Matthew Chandler who fired a 219 over the three rounds, including a team-lowest score of 70 in round two. Teammates
Brady Holland and
Abraham Elmore were tied at 221, while
Dylan Brown was right behind with a 224.
Gabe Goodman was fifth for the Warriors with a 231 for the tournament.
Arkansas Tech earned team honors with a 837, while Leo Maciejek of Harding had the top individual score at 205.
For Winona State, the trip to Oklahoma the second of five events scheduled for this fall. Next up is the Watkins Invitational, hosted by WSU and held Monday, Sept. 27 and Tuesday, Sept. 28.
