LAKE CITY, Minn. – The Winona State University men's golf team won the Watkins Invitational, shooting an impressive team score of four-under par.
The Watkins Invitational was held at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minnesota where the Warriors finished with a two-day total of 572 strokes, 13 strokes ahead of second place.
Leading Winona State was
Brady Holland who shot a 70 (-2) during round one and a 71 (-1) during round two, leading to a second-place finish individually.
Abraham Elmore put together two solid rounds of 71 and 72 to finish the event one-under par, and fourth overall.
Matthew Chandler finished tied for seventh, shooting a two-day total of 146 (74-72).
Gabe Goodman contributed for WSU in round one with a one-over par, 73. Rounding out the Warriors scoring in round two was
Dylan Brown who fired a 69 (-3). The Warriors also saw
Matt Turner finish tied for fifth place individually, with a final score of 145 (75-70).
In a field of 74 golfers, Winona State saw seven of their golfers in the top 20. Dawson Wills from Washburn won the event with a 5-under par 139. Behind the Warriors in the team standings, Missouri Western State (585) and Washburn University (589) finished in second and third place, respectively.
The Warriors will be in action next at the Viterbo Invite in La Crosse, Wis. on October 4-5.
