BROOKFIELD, Ill. - Winona State University football standout
Carter Duxbury added to a long list of accolades earned during this past Warrior football season, as he was named to the 2021 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team, as announced on Monday, Jan. 31.
Duxbury delivered a remarkable season in 2021, earning Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Defensive Player of the Year honors, as well as Associated Press (AP) NCAA Division II All-America notoriety. Duxbury was designated to the Don Hansen Second Team on defense and is one of just 10 selections from the NSIC.
The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
In 2021, Duxbury played in all 11 games, racking up 46 total tackles including 29 solo stops. Among his 14 tackles for loss were 11 sacks, the most in NSIC in 2021. The Chatfield, Minn. product had six QB hurries and three forced fumbles while earning First Team All-NSIC honors. He finished tied for eighth in NCAA Division II football in the sacks-per-game category with a 1.0 mark on the season.
