WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University volleyball team's homecoming match was spoiled as Concordia-St. Paul handed WSU a three-set defeat.

Winona State was unable to get things rolling on the offensive end, and CSP was able to outmatch the Warriors. The Golden Bears connected for 46 kills on a .291 hitting percentage in the match, while WSU hit .073 and knocked down 30 kills.

Both teams were tied in the dig category with 47 team digs apiece, and Concordia-St. Paul was able to garner nine blocks while the Warriors earned three.

CSP opened the match with an early lead in the first set, but Winona State battled back to get within two points at 17-19. The late Warrior rally came to an end as the Golden Bears rattled off six of the next eight points to win the opening frame 25-19.

Winona State trailed the entirety of the second set as CSP poured on a strong offensive display, hitting for 17 kills and just three errors en route to a 15-14 second-set victory.

The Warriors showed fight in the final set, but it wasn't enough with the Golden Bears wining the third set 25-18 and clinching the match 3-0.

Jaci Winchell added another double double to her impressive freshman campaign with 25 assists and 10 digs.  Sidney Paulson (9), Casey Volkmann (8), and Rylee Vaughn (7) also contributed to the Warrior back row in the dig category.

On the attack, Lydia Lange connected for eight kills to pace WSU. Gianna Vollrath matched her career-high with six kills and Paulson also added six for WSU.

Winona State (12-10, 8-7 NSIC) will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Upper Iowa on Tuesday, Oct. 25. With just five conference contests remaining, WSU currently sits in a tie for 8th place in the NSIC standings
