TULSA, Okla. – The Winona State University men's golf team earned fifth place at the Tulsa Cup, hosted by Rogers State University.
The Warriors battled wet conditions to shoot rounds of 300 and 304 across the two days. Northeastern State earned championship honors with a 590 (+14).
Alessandro Trenta was one of just three players in the field to have both rounds even par or better. Trenta played steady golf to shoot two rounds of 72 (E) and earn a fifth-place finish individually.
Matt Turner finished tied for 10th after shooting a 148 (+4). Turner carded the best round out of any Warrior with a two-under par 70 on the first day before shooting a 78 during round two.
Gabe Goodman shot a 152 (+8) with rounds of 77 and 75 to help lead the Warriors.
Rounding out the Warrior lineup were
Bennett Thomas and
Peyton Coahran. Thomas shot a 160 (+16) and Coahran carded a 164 (+20).
The fifth-place finish notched WSU's fourth tournament inside the top five this fall, including a team victory at the Regional Preview in September.
The Warriors will be back in action in the spring for the championship portion of their season.
