INDIANAPOLIS – The Winona State University women's cross country team has been selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, as announced by the NCAA.
Winona State finished fifth in the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships and was one of 10 teams to earn an at-large bid to participate in the championships held on Dec. 2 at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash. The Warriors will participate in the national championship race will be at 2:15pm EST.
Lindsay Cunningham led WSU at the Central Regional, repeating as the NCAA Division II Central Region Individual Champion and winning the race by more than 40 seconds. Cunningham's 2022 time of 19:34.8 was one minute and ten seconds faster than her 2021 title-winning time of 20:44.8.
Kaylee Beyer finished in fourth (20:19.6) and
McKenna Taylor earned a 12th place finish (20:47.4) as the top three Warriors were the only three individuals from any competing school to all finish inside the top 12.
The cross country championships will be part of the NCAA Division II National Championships Festival, which hosts the men's and women's cross country, women's field hockey, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball Division II championships. The Festival will be held from December 1-3 in Seattle, Wash.
