MINOT, N.D. -Â The Winona State University volleyball team earned their first conference win in convincing fashion with a sweep over Minot State.

The Warriors controlled all facets of the match to win in straight sets with scores of 25-8, 25-10, 25-14.

WSU hit .360 and held the Beavers to a mere .020, while collecting eight blocks and 43 digs to limit Minot State scoring chances.

Winona State started the scoring in the first set, taking the first seven points of the game and rolling to a 25-8 first-set victory. The Warriors connected for 15 kills and recorded just one error in the set while holding the Beavers to a -0.071 hitting percentage.

Minot State controlled much of the second set and held a 19-10 advantage, putting WSU on their heels. The Warriors then took over and won 15 of the next 16 points to comeback and win the set, 25-20.

Momentum stayed on the Warriors side as they won the final set, 25-14.
Â
Mikenna Joerger led the Warrior way on the attack, connecting on 11 kills and held a .588 hitting percentage.
Madison Larson and
Sidney Paulson each knocked down nine kills to provide many options at the net.
Â
Jaci Winchell led all players with 24 assists, while
Kami Knutsen added five for Winona State.
Casey Volkmann and Paulson led WSU's defense with 11 and 10 digs, respectively, while
Taylor Pagel garnered six blocks.

Winona State (5-7, 1-4 NSIC) will now face UMary (2-11, 1-4 NSIC) in Bismarck, N.D. tomorrow, Sept. 24 at 1pm.
