JOPLIN, Mo. -
Lindsay Cunningham successfully defended her NCAA Division II Central Region Individual Championship and the Winona State women's program won the 2023 NCAA Division II team title in another impressive performance.
Cunningham ran a time of 19:33.28 to win the race, outpacing Khot Juac of the University of Sioux Falls who was second at 20:26.03. Winona State's
Kaylee Beyer was third overall with a time of 20:32.41. WSU's
Sophia Taarud earned a top-10 finish on the day as well, running an eighth place time of 21:01.20.
Also factoring into the Winona State scoring was
McKenna Taylor (21:24.11 / 16th overall) and
Kylie Anderson (21:39.56 / 24th overall). Rounding out the Warrior scoring was
Allison Kenefick, running a time of 21:47.91.
For Cunningham, the victory extended her NCAA Regional Championship streak to three consecutive titles. The team championship books a trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships for the second time in two years.
