EMPORIA, Kan. - The Winona State University softball team is set to take part in a weather-altered Emporia State Classic, playing two games on Saturday, Feb. 18 and two contests on Sunday, Feb. 19.
Due to weather conditions, the tournament will be held at a host of sites around Emporia State. WSU will play Saturday's contests at Turbull Field; the Warriors will face Quincy University at 12:15pm and host Emporia State at 4:45pm.
On Sunday, WSU will take on Northwest Missouri State at 12:15 pm on Lake Shawnee Field in Topeka, Kansas. At 4:45pm, the Warriors will face off with Washburn University.
Winona State opened the 2023 season 2-0, earning a sweep over Grand View University on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the RCTC Dome.
Abbie Hlas and
Abby Smith both went the distance in the circle, earning 4-1 and 8-4 wins, respectively.
Marissa Mullen opened up her campaign with a two-run home run in her first at-bat of 2023 and
Carly Engelhardt collect a triple among her three base hits in the opening series.
