WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University softball team will be at home for an NSIC doubleheader on Tuesday, April 25. Games are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Alumni Field in Winona, Minn.
The last time the two NSIC softball powers squared off, Winona State beat Minnesota State 8-2 in the NSIC Tournament on May 2, 2022 in Rochester, Minn.
Winona State Storylines
The Warriors are 33-12 overall and 16-4 in the NSIC.
Abbie Hlas leads the Warriors in batting average (.399) and is tops in the NSIC in both hits and at-bats.
Carly Engelhardt leads Winona State in OPS (1.112) and slugging percentage (.664).
Abby Smith is 16-4 on the year in the Warrior circle, while
Abbie Hlas is 12-6 overall.
Minnesota State Storylines
The Mavericks are 26-16 overall and 15-9 in league play.
Ellie Tallman leads MSU with a .397 batting average.
Tallman has a team-high 50 hits in 126 at bats.
Ava Smithson has 11 home runs and five doubles on the season.
MSU's top pitcher is McKayla Armbruster at 17-8 overall.

Greg Jones entered the 2023 NCAA Division II season 13th among active coaches in victories (891) and seventh in winning percentage (.747) and reached the 900-career win milestone at The Spring Games in March.
Winona State has made 15 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances as a program, all with Jones at the helm.
