WAVERLY, Iowa - The Winona State University track and field team competed in the Wartburg College Outdoor Select meet over the weekend of April 1-2, ultimately coming in second place as a team with 100 points and capturing multiple individual event titles.
Kaylee Beyer earned championship honors in both the 1500-meters and the 800-meters, running times of 4:32.27 and 2:16.06, respectively.
Lindsay Cunningham captured the 5000-meter first-place prize with a time of 16:08.11, a NCAA Division II provisional mark in the event.
Brooklyn Schyvinck won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.15.
Other top-three Warrior individual performances included
Alyssa Larson's time of 59.28 in the 400 meter race and
McKenna Taylor's 5000-meter mark of 17:42.06; both Larson and Taylor were third in their events. In the 100-meter hurdles,
Xana Leum took second (14.68) and
Hanna Reichenberger 14.68) took third as WSU owned two of the top three times in the event.
In the relays, Winona State placed second in the 4 X 400 with time of 4:00.21, as
Lainey Lipschultz,
Alyssa Larson,
Brooklyn Schyvinck and
Kaylee Beyer combined to compete in the event. The field events saw a top performance by
Kaylee Patnode in the javelin, taking third with a throw of 37.97 meters (124'7").
Winona State finished the competition with 100 points to take second place, just edging out host Wartburg College with 97.5. NCAA Division I Northern Iowa won the meet with a team score of 160.5.
Next up for Winona State will be the Ashton May Invitational at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse on Friday, April 7.
