St. PAUL, Minn. - The Winona State University track and field team - currently ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II - is set to compete in the 2023 NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Concordia University, St. Paul at Sea Foam Stadium.
At CSP, Winona State will be led by a strong contingent of Warriors that have already rewritten the WSU record book throughout the 2023 campaign.
Winona State will open the competition featuring one of the most dominant athletes in the NSIC, as
Lindsay Cunningham will look to improve upon her NCAA Division II - best time in the 10,000 meters. Cunningham ran a 32:43.64 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 12, the fastest time in the NCAA Division II ranks and nearly six seconds faster than Florance Uwajeneza of West Texas A&M, the current No. 2 ranked athlete in the event.
As the running events continue into the day on Friday, highlights for Winona State will be
Kaylee Beyer - 13th in the country with a time of 4:24.34 - likely leading the field in the 1500 meters and
Brooklyn Schyvinck - 7th in the country overall - as one of the favorites in the 400-meter hurdles.
The Warrior field event athletes will start on Friday with
Mari Mohling in the high jump, beginning at 12:30 pm.
Ashlie Lockington and
Kaylee Olson will both compete in the long jump, which starts at 3:30 pm. Championship Saturday will see the finals in the running events for those who qualify, as well as field event competitions in the triple jump and javelin.
