WINONA, Minn. - Winona State University and Warrior Athletics will see several new faces on the sidelines around campus, with new assistant coaches tabbed for various programs as WSU heads into the 2023-24 academic year.

Otis 'Trey' Johnson and
Joey Stuzman will join head coach
Brian Bergstrom on the WSU staff. Johnson comes to Winona State from Colorado State University where he served as a defensive intern on the defensive line with the Ram program. Johnson competed in football at Fort Lewis College, where he earned Dean's List honors in 2016 and 2017. Stuzman comes to Winona State from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, having been a three-year starter at running back for the Eagles. Stuzman brings coaching experience from Three Rivers Performance strength and condition program as well as having served on staff in the Aquinas (Wis.) Schools football program.
The Warrior softball program has elevated
Ali Nowak to a full-time assistant coach role, following the departure of long-time associate head coach Chad Tuescher. Prior to returning to Winona State, Nowak was a member of the St. Cloud State softball coaching staff for the 2021-22 academic year. Nowak built a standout playing career at Winona State between 2017 and 2021, earning NFCA and D2CCA All-American honors on two occasions. Playing both behind the plate and as the designated player, Nowak was one of the most impactful players on some of the best teams to during her five-year Warrior career.

Jill Leibforth has elevated
Joe Davis to a new role as full-time assistant coach in the Warrior program. Davis is involved all aspects of the Warrior program management, including recruiting, training and in-game coaching. Born in Reading, England, Davis played professional soccer in Germany. Davis has earned his USSF 'C' License and a degree from New River Community College. Davis also serves as the technical director for Rush Wisconsin West in La Crosse, Wis.
