St. PAUL - The Winona State University women's soccer team scored early on but saw host Concordia University, St. Paul knot things up with second half goal and settled for a 1-1 draw to open NSIC play on Friday, Sept. 15 in Sea Foam Stadium.
Winona State and Concordia University, St. Paul both entered the match at .500 on the season, with CSP 2-2 overall and WSU sporting a 1-1-1 mark. After 90 minutes, both teams remained at that mark and split the points in the NSIC standings with the 1-1 stalemate.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Winona State struck early, with
Abigail Williams finding the back of the net in the fourth minute, thanks in part to an assist from Warrior teammate
Madyson Dye.
WSU created sustained pressure on Concordia St. Paul in the first half, forcing the Golden Bears to foul on five occasions.
The Warrior defense was able to limit CSP to just two shots, none of which were on goal.
WSU saw a
Reanne Weil saved by Kayla Matuzak with less than five mintutes to play in the first half.
Overall, Winona State outshot CSP 8-2 in the first half, putting three efforts on frame.

The home side tied the match at 1-1 with a Katie Anderson goal in the 53rd minute. Anderson was assisted by Sophie Pawlyshyn.
Concordia St. Paul picked up a pair of yellow cards in the final 45, with Sophia Haase and McKayla Stockness both booked.
Winona State earned three second-half corners, compared to just one for CSP.
The Warriors earned a corner kick late in the game, but were unable to convert on the set piece with less than two minutes to play.
