How It Happened

The host Beavers started quickly with a 5-0 run off the opening tip, but WSU was able to answer on buckets by Connor Dillon and Connor Drew, closing to within two points, down 7-5.

Brock Voigt would allow the Warriors to draw level with Bemidji State with a layup that pushed the score board to 7-7.

Connon Drew would knock down one more three-pointer to bring WSU within one at 23-22 at the 8:47 mark, but after Drew's delivery from beyond the arc, Bemidji State would put together a series of runs to establish a large lead.

The Beavers John Pecarich would hit a triple in the final minute of play to give the home side a 51-26 advantage before Drew Adams would connect on the last basket of the first half to cut the BSU lead to 23 points.

The tough opening 20 minutes saw WSU go just 2-of-11 (18.2%) from 3-point territory and 12-of-33 (36.4%) overall from the floor.  In contrast, the host Beavers were 9-of-15 from behind the arc en route to a 51-point first half.

At The Half: Bemidji State 51, Winona State 28

Bemidji State opened the second half with another scoring run, outpacing WSU by a 14-4 margin in the opening five minutes.

Gavyn Hurley and Drew Adams both scored from close range after the first timeout of the second stanza, but BSU would continue to pull away from the Warriors.

Jordan Wilkins hit a three-pointer at 7:13 in the period, followed quickly by a Gavyn Hurley dunk; however Bemidji State would stay on course with the collective hot shooting hand the rest of the way.

BSU would finish the second period hitting 15-of-34 (44.12%) from the floor while holding Winona State to a 10-of-23 (43.48%) scoring effort.

After making both free throw attempts in the first half, the Warriors would struggle at the foul line in the second half, going just 7-of-21 from the line, with Bemidji State eventually claiming the 93-58 victory.
