MANKATO, Minn. - The Winona State University track and field team was paced by a first-place finish and three runner-up performances at the Mark Schuck Open hosted by Minnesota State on Saturday, January 27.
Competing in the Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn., Winona State was led by
Jenna Anders and her championship performance in the women's 800-meter race. Anders' time of 2:19.86 allowed her to beat out Carleton's Mary Blanchard (2:20.79), who claimed runner-up honors. With the 2:19.86, Anders improved upon her 2023 mark of 2:20.83 and moved into ninth all-time on the Warrior Top 10 in the event.
Three Winona State Warriors earned runner-up honors on the day.
Regan Feit ran a 400-meter time of 57.87, just barely outside of the WSU 10th-best mark of 57.60, set by Johnna Patterson in 2018. Also taking second was
Sophia Taarud, running a mile time of 5:06.23, also a Top-10 Warrior mark. In the women's 600-meters,
Bellamy Sukalski earned runner-up status with a 1:42.45 time.
Kaylee Olson earned a pair of fourth-place finishes, both in field events. Olson had a high jump mark of 1.56M (5-01.25) and had a best long jump effort of 5.07m (16-07.75), also good for fourth overall.
Courtney Lukas claimed two fifth-place marks, running a time of 7.85 in the women's 60 meters and 26.48 in the women's 200 meters. Lukas' 60-meter time is the ninth-fastest in Warrior history, improving her 2023 mark of 7.90.
WSU finished sixth among 12 teams overall, collecting 56.5 points. Host Minnesota State won the event with 352.5 points.
The Warriors are back in action on Friday, Feb. 2 when they travel to Lewis University for the Flyer Invitational.
