Warrior Game Day : Men's Basketball

St. PAUL, Minn. -  The Winona State University men's basketball team will travel to Concordia University, St. Paul on Tuesday, January 30 for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) matchup between the Warriors and Golden Bears. The WSU - CSP showdown will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul. 

Winona State (12-8, 7-7 NSIC)  is surging into the final stretch of the NSIC regular season schedule, having beaten No. 3-ranked MSU Moorhead 83-72 last Friday and defeating St. Cloud State 77-69 the following evening. WSU has won three of the last four games and owns a nine-game winning streak against the Golden Bears.  CSP last beat WSU on February 22, 2019 and Winona State is 23-6 against Concordia St. Paul in the last 29 contests between the two schools. 
 
WSU's leading scorer Connor Dillon put up 27 points against the nationally-ranked Dragons last Friday and Warrior teammate Brock Voigt has been a key contributor of late, registering a double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds) against MSU Moorhead and scoring a Warrior career-best 22 points on Saturday in the Warriors' defeat of SCSU.

  • WSU is 12-8 on the year, 7-7 in NSIC play.

  • Heading into the season, Eisner's all-time coaching record stands at 531-263, including a 115-97 Winona State ledger. 

Concordia University, St. Paul STORYLINES

  • The Golden Bears are 9-11 overall and 4-10 in the NSIC. 
  • CSP split their most recent NSIC weekend, beating Bemidji State 92-84 but losing to Minnesota Crookston, 84-82. 
  • Concordia, St. Paul has a 7-44 record against Winona State, dating back to Dec. 11, 1999.
  • Concordia, St. Paul nearly beat MSU Moorhead last week, falling 79-72 to the nationally-ranked Dragons. 
  • As a team, CSP is shooting 45.6% from the floor and 74.3% at the line.   
  • CSP hits 36.0% of their three-point attempts.  
  • Jordan Horn is averaging 20.5 points per game for CSP
  • Matt Fletcher is in his seventh year as head coach for the Golden Bears.

Warrior Notables:

  • Winona State was the NCAA Division II National Champion in 2006 and 2008; WSU was runner-up in 2007.  
  • The Warriors added two assistant coaches for the 2023-24 campaign; Devin Whitelow and Cole Rabedeaux are both in their first year on the Warrior sideline. 
  • Whitelow was the 2020-21 NSIC Don Olson Award honoree as a senior point guard for Winona State.  
  • Rabedeaux was a standout player at UW-Eau Claire and had an assistant coaching stint with NCAA Division I University of Houston.
