WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University men's basketball team is set to resume the run in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action, hosting Northern State University on Saturday, January 6, in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.
Winona State (8-4, 4-3 NSIC) will take on Northern State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, part of a Winter Game Day Experience event anda WSU Employee Appreciation Day on campus. Fans attending the contest will also have the opportunity to participate in a food drive as a part of a Hunger Action Day initiative.
The Winter Game Day Experience - modeled after the Warrior Game Day Experience during home football games - will include nearly a dozen different vendors, games, and giveaways. The event will take place in McCown Gymnasium from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted for the Warrior Cupboard during the Winter Game Day Experience as a part of the Hunger Action Day initiative.

In addition to free admission for the contest, the first 200 employees in the door will also receive a free bag of popcorn, courtesy of Chartwells and the Winona State University Foundation.Â

WINONA STATE STORYLINESÂ
- WSU is 8-4Â on the year, 4-3Â in NSIC play.Â
- Saturday's contest wraps up a three-game home stand for Winona State; WSU is currently on a two-game winning streak beating UW-Parkside 59-45 on Dec. 31 and Crown College 90-69 on Jan. 2.
- Carter Lomas led all scorers vs Crown College with 17, a career-high for the senior guard.
- Connor Dillon continues to climb the WSU all-time scoring ranks heading into Saturday's game against Northern State. Currently No. 33 with 1,042 points, Dillon can surpass Eric Plitzuweit (1,059 / 1991-95) with a strong outing against the Wolves.
- Declan Dillon was just one rebound away from a double-double versus Wisconsin Parkside on Dec. 31, scoring 11 points and grabbing nine rebounds. He also led the team in assists with four.
- Olumide Adelodun made his second career appearance for Winona State against Crown College, scoring 13 points, notching two assists, and grabbing a rebound in 18 minutes of action off the bench.
- No Warrior player was tagged for more than two fouls against UW-Parkside, one of their most disciplined performances of the year.
- With Connor Dillon's triple early in the first half against the Polars on Tuesday, WSU men's basketball has now hit a 3-pointer in 700 straight games, dating back to Nov. 29, 2000.
- As noted by HBC Sports Director Justin Barrientos, the national record for team consecutive 3-pointers is UNLV, a program that has hit a 3-pointer in 1,204 consecutive games. The Running Rebels and Princeton (1,030 games) are the only NCAA Division I team to hit a 3-pointer in every game since the 3-point line was introduced in the 1986-87 season
- Brock Voigt currently has a career rebound mark of 504. The former NCAA DIII standout from UW-Eau Claire has 936 career points (864 UWEC / 72 WSU).
- Connor Drew is second on the team in total points scored this year with 153 overall.
- Drew Adams has appeared in all 13 Winona State contests this season, all in sixth-man fashion
- Head coach Todd Eisner is embarking on his 9th season with the Warriors and 26th overall as a college head coach. Â
- Heading into the season, Eisner's all-time coaching record stands at 531-263, including a 115-97 Winona State ledger.Â
Northern State STORYLINESÂ
- The Wolves are 5-7Â overall and 3-3 in the NSIC.
- NSU has dropped their last two contests, falling 77-72 in OT to Minot State and 71-64 to Minnesota Crookston.
- Northern State has been off for nearly three weeks, having last played on Dec. 16
- The Wolves will take on nationally ranked Minnesota State on Friday before facing WSU on Saturday.
- Jacksen Moni leads the Wolves in rebounding (7.8 rpg) and scoring (20.5 ppg).
- Josh Dilling averages 20.1 ppg and hits from the floor at 58.3% and is shooting 56.1% from behind the arc.
- Dilling has a team-best 53 assists on the year.
- As a team, NSU averages 77.4 points per game and 34.3 rebounds each contest.
- Saul Phillips is in his fifth year at Northern State.

- Winona State was the NCAA Division II National Champion in 2006 and 2008; WSU was runner-up in 2007. Â
- The Warriors added two assistant coaches for the 2023-24 campaign; Devin Whitelow and Cole Rabedeaux are both in their first year on the Warrior sideline.Â
- Whitelow was the 2020-21 NSIC Don Olson Award honoree as a senior point guard for Winona State. Â
- Rabedeaux was a standout player at UW-Eau Claire and had an assistant coaching stint with NCAA Division I University of Houston.Â
