WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University football team returns home to battle MSU Moorhead on Saturday, October 5th at 1:00pm in Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
The Warriors (1-3, 1-2 NSIC) most recently lost to Northern State 30-24 while the Dragons (2-2, 2-1 NSIC) defeated No. 18 Augustana 43-41 last week. Winona State has won four of the last five meetings against MSUM, but the Dragons had the upper hand a season ago, defeating WSU 20-17 in Moorhead, Minn.
Winona State invites all fans to participate in the Warrior Game Day Experience, beginning at 11:00am at the intersection of Johnson and Mark streets on the campus of WSU. The Warrior Walk will be at 12:05pm.
Winona State Notes:
- Winona State was unable to complete the comeback against Northern State last week, falling 30-24 after NSU scored with less than four minutes left.
- The Warriors fell to MSU Moorhead in Moorhead, Minn. last season by a score of 17-20. Winona State had the upper hand in 2021 and 2022, defeating MSUM both seasons.
- The Winona State defense had 8 tackles for loss against Northern State and held the Wolves to just 135 passing yards last week.
- Sylvere Campbell leads the NSIC in all purpose yards, averaging 140 yards/game.
- Ty Gavin ran the ball 13 times for 50 yards and one touchdown to lead the WSU backfield vs. Northern State.
- Winona State has the fifth most yards/game offensively in the NSIC, averaging 373.0 yards of total offense.
- Cole Stenstrom averages 236.3 yards/game through the air, good for third in the conference.
- Nick Bucaro picked up seven tackles last week to lead the WSU defense. Brent Jeske, Trey Borske, Kyjuan Vengrowsky, John Klinger, and Tristan Root picked up tackles for losses against NSU.

MSU Moorhead Notes:
- The Dragons are 2-2 on the season with both wins coming against ranked opponents.
- MSU Moorhead scores an average of 26.25 points/game and allows 34 points per game to opponents.
- MSUM has the league's best passing attack, throwing for 372.8 yards/game. The Dragons average 63.25 passing attempts per game.
- Jack Strand, reigning NSIC Offensive Player of the Year, leads the conference in passing yards (374.3/game) and passing TDs (12).
- The Dragons average just 15.3 yards per game rushing. They run the ball an average of 16.5 times per game.
- Gage Florence is Strand's top target, grabbing 41 receptions and totaling 378 yards this season.
- Josiah Behm leads the MSUM defense with 27 total tackles, including 4.5 TFL.
- MSU Moorhead hosts Minnesota State next week for their Homecoming.
