WARRIORS SHUT OUT BY VIKINGS 31-0

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Winona State football had hopes of winning their third straight game, but Augustana shut out the Warriors 31-0 in a one-sided contest.

With the loss, Winona State falls to 3-4 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC while Augustana improves to 5-2 overall and 5-1 within the league.

The Warriors started the game with the ball but were forced to punt after converting just one first down on the drive. Augustana then went on a 62-yard scoring drive to take an early 7-0 lead. On the ensuing drive, WSU traveled 46 yards over the course of 6:51 but the drive stalled after a missed field goal.

After trading punts, Winona State blocked the Vikings punt attempt and began their drive at AU's 28-yard line. Six plays later, the Vikings found the endzone as an 85-yard reception contributed to the scoring drive. Augustana added a 54-yard field goal on the last play of the first half to take a 17-0 lead into the locker room.

Winona State wasn't able to garner any offensive traction in the second half, while Augustana added two more scores in the third quarter and held on for the 31-0 victory.
