MINOT, ND – Winona State football dropped the season finale at Minot State, 56-23.
The Warriors were unable to overcome a 28-point second quarter barrage by the Beavers and fell behind 42-0 before finding the endzone in the third quarter. Winona State tallied 316 yards of total offense, but Minot State gained 525 total yards with 399 being on the ground.
Minot State scored halfway through the first quarter and then added four scores in the second quarter. The Beavers needed just one play on two of their second-quarter scoring drives. The Warriors finally found the endzone on a Sylvere Campbell pass to Ty Gavin with 4:56 left in the third quarter.
Winona State scored twice more in the fourth, but the Beavers also added a touchdown to bring the final score to 56-23.
Cole Stenstrom threw for 199 yards on 17-33 passing with a touchdown. Sylvere Campbell caught six passes for 80 yards and scored a TD. Quentin Pringle rain for 48 yards on 14 attempts and Ty Gavin had 11 carries for 39 yards. Jackson Flottmeyer also ran the ball six times for 42 yards.
Joseph Demro led WSU with nine tackles and Nick Bucaro picked up seven. David Nies had 2.0 TFL to lead the defense.
Winona State finishes their season with a 5-6 record overall and 5-5 within NSIC play.
