WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team is looking to extend their winning streak to four games on Friday, November 22nd, against Upper Iowa University in McCown Gymnasium at 6:00pm, making it the last game in a three-game home stand.
In their last three contests, they have won against Southeastern Oklahoma State University 61-53, Maryville University 62-60, and Truman State 70-64. Winona State's matchup against Upper Iowa on Friday, Nov 22, will be the 41st time these universities have faced off, with the last being December 31st, 2022.
Winona State Notes:
- The 2024 campaign will feature 14 home games and 12 away games, Winona State finished 6-6 at home last season and 6-6 at home in 2022.
- Currently holding a record of 3-1, WSU is ranked fifth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
- The Warriors are ranked fifth in the NSIC in points allowed and 11th in points scored.
- Olivia Gamoke is ranked seventh in the NSIC in scoring with an average of 17.5 points a game, and Mattie Schimenz is ranked 14th in scoring with an average of 13.8 points a game.
- Gamoke led the team in minutes over the weekend, with a combined 78 minutes. She also led the team in scoring, with a combined 40 points on 15-33 (45.45%) shooting.
- Lindsey Hahn provided valuable minutes off the bench over the weekend with a combined 37 minutes.
- Sadie Jarmolowicz led the team in rebounds over the weekend with a combined 16 rebounds.
- Finding her teammates over the weekend was Vivica Bretton with a combined six assists leading the team in this category.
Upper Iowa Notes:
- Currently holding a record of 2-0, Upper Iowa is ranked second in the Great Lake Valley Conference.
- Mia Huberty is leading the team in minutes with an average of 25 a game. She is also leading the team in points with an average of 15.0 a game.
- Leading the team in rebounds is Kayla Bohr with an average of seven a game.
- Helen Staley is leading the team in assists with an average of five a game. She is also leading the team in blocks with an average of two a game.
- Leading the team in steals is Anna Soler, with an average of two and a half a game.
