SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Winona State University men's basketball team faced off against Augustana University to begin the Warriors Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) weekend, winning 72-55.
Jhei-R Jones led the Warriors with 25 points on 9-11 shooting, going perfect from beyond the arc.
How it Happened:
Tyler Mason would get on the board first for the Warriors knocking down a three pointer. Both teams would battle for most of the first half before Winona State would go on an 11-0 run behind seven points from senior Connor Drew including a three pointer, layup and a jumper. A Connor Drew layup would end the half with the Warriors up 36-25.
The second half would begin with a free throw from Isaiah Thompson, but Augustana would quickly cut the lead to single digits with a tip in from Bennett Fried from the Vikings. Extending the lead for the Warriors would be Jhei-R Jones with 11 quick points including two three pointers and three free throws. The Warriors would put the game away with free throws from Tyson Keil and a three from Tyler Orr. Winona State wins 72-55.
