Lindsay Cunningham both turned in impressive performances for the Winona State University track and field team at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University on Friday, February 8.
Kaylee Beyer ran a time of 9:06.42 in the women's 3000-meter run, setting a new Winona State all-time record in the event. Beyer beat
Lindsay Cunningham's 2023 time of 9:10.46 to set the record and the achievement marks the fourth individual event in which Beyer is now tops all-time at WSU, joining her 800-meter (2:12.22), 1000-meter (2:54.73) and indoor mile (4:43.24) times. Beyer's mark in Boston is also the second-fastest 3000-meter time in the NCAA Division II ranks so far this year, with only Adams State's Gracie Hyde's 8:58.33 sitting higher in the national standings. Five of the top 10 3000-meter marks were set on Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Running in the 5000 meter race,
Lindsay Cunningham ran a time of 16:05.04, the second-fastest 5000 meter mark in the NCAA Division II ranks this year. Cunningham owns the Warrior record in the 5000 meters, earning a time of 15:41.30 set in 2023, and her 16:05.04 in Boston on Friday is the second-fastest Winona State time in history. Cunningham was among five NCAA Division II standouts to register a Top-10 time in the DII 5000 meters on Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Beyer and Cunningham will next compete in the Indoor Eagle Open, hosted by the University of Wisconsin La Crosse on Friday, February 16. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Indoor Championships are schedule for February 23-24 in Mankato, Minnesota.
