WAVERLY, Iowa - The Winona State University track and field team earned a fourth-place finish to open the 2024 WSU outdoor season at Wartburg College on Friday, March 29.
Competing in Walston-Hoover Stadium at Wartburg, Winona State and head coach
Mason Rebarchek received first-place performances by
Kaylee Beyer and
Jenna Anders as the WSU distance contingent led the Warrior way.
Beyer ran a time of 16:09.59 in the women's 5000m, running the second-fastest ever time in the event and improving on her previous best time of 17:05.13.
Jenna Anders recorded a time of 2:20.42 in 800m, landing just outside of the Warrior Top-10 in the race. Joing Beyer and Anders in top-3 scoring in running events were
Madeline Palmer who had a 5000m mark of 18:32.35, good for third overall, and
Lainey Lipschultz who ran the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:07.27.
Alyssa Larson also nabbed a third-place finish in the 400m run with a time of 1:00.33
In the field events,
Hanna Reichenberger was the top Warrior performer with a runner-up finish in the women's triple jump of 37-08.75 (11.50M).
Kaylee Olson added a fourth-place long jump mark of 17-04.00 (5.28m)
At Wartburg, Northern Iowa took top team honors with a score of 246; WSU's 63 team points beat NSIC foe St. Cloud State, as the Huskies finished fifth with a 55-point team effort.
Winona State track and field is next in action on Saturday, April 6 when WSU is set to compete at the Ashton May Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin La Crosse.
