WINONA, Minn. - Jenny (Weiland) Smith was a four-year member of the Winona State Women's Basketball team. Smith graduated in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, along with minors in Spanish and Business Law. She was named a Winona State Presidential Scholar-Athlete in 2015, 2016, and 2017, which is awarded to student-athletes who achieve a 3.20 semester GPA or higher. Additionally, Smith was also named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All-Academic Team in 2014-2015, 2015-2016, and 2016-2017. This award is given to student-athletes who achieve a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher.
What was your favorite sports memory during your time at WSU?
It would have to be going to the NCAA Tournament my junior year.
What would you say is your greatest athletics and/or academic accomplishment during your time at WSU?
Winning conference in the 2015-2016 season.
How has your WSU athletics experience been influential throughout your life?
My WSU experience created lifelong friends that I still keep in touch with to this day.

Personal-Married in October 2022 and expecting a baby boy in July 2024!
Professional-Reached the 6-year mark at my current company. Personal-Recently Married!
What is your current occupation, and what are your career goals?
My current occupation is a Senior Accountant for a concert promotion company in the music industry. My current career goal is to climb the ladder at my current company and become an Accounting Manager.
What advice would you give to current WSU student-athletes?
Live in the moment-it FLIES BY. Keep a good head on your shoulders, and don't forget to thank the people along the way (all the way from the bus drivers to your coaches).
