The Winona State University tennis team wrapped up the 2024 regular season with a split in NSIC action over the weekend, defeating Bemidji State 7-0 but falling to the University of Minnesota Crookston 4-3.
Against Bemidji State, WSU earned the full complement of points in doubles and singles play. Highlights in the rout for Winona State included a
Sara Anderson 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while
Halle Rosentreter took No. 2 singles by a 6-1, 6-2 count. The Warrior win pushed WSU to a 4-4 NSIC mark following the match.
In taking on Minnesota Crookston, WSU opened with a 2-1 advantage in doubles competition to earn the opening point, but the Golden Eagles claimed wins at No. 1, No. 2 singles play to draw level with the Warriors. UMC would go on to win the No. 5 and No. 6 singles points to close out the match and deal WSU the setback.Â
Lainy Ristau won at No. 3 singles by a pair of 7-5, 7-5 scorelines and
Skylar Gary claimed No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win.Â
Following the weekend, Winona State concluded the NSIC regular season with a 4-5 league mark.
