WINONA, Minn. – Winona State football will square off against Wayne State College on Saturday, September 21st at 1:00pm in Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium during Winona State's Family Weekend.
The Warriors (1-1, 1-0 NSIC) are coming off a 31-14 victory at Concordia-St. Paul while the Wildcats (2-1, 1-1 NSIC) fell to #11 Minnesota State, 35-28, on a last-minute score last week.
Winona State invites all fans to participate in the Warrior Game Day Experience, beginning at 11:00am at the intersection of Johnson and Mark streets on the campus of WSU. The Warrior Walk will be at 12:05pm.
Winona State Notes:
- Winona State defeated Concordia-St. Paul 31-14 last week in St. Paul, Minn. The Warriors used a balanced attack and capitalized on four rushing touchdowns to secure the win.
- WSU was victorious in the previous meeting against Wayne State, defeating the Wildcats 38-14 at home on Oct. 1, 2022.
- The Warriors hold a 21-4 all-time record vs. WSC, including six wins in the most recent seven games.
- Winona State averages 416 yards of offense so far this season, while allowing 364.5 yards to opponents.
- Cole Stenstrom is second in the NSIC in passing yards, putting up 276 yards/game on 41-65 total passing.
- Sylvere Campbell leads the Northern Sun with 133 receiving yards per game. Campbell has averaged 20.5 yards/catch on 13 receptions in WSU's first two contests.
- Ty Gavin leads the conference with an average of 33.3 yards per kick return. Cayden Holcomb has averaged 25.8 yards to be third in the NSIC.
- Brent Jeske has garnered 14.0 total tackles to lead the WSU defense. He has also notched one pass breakup.
- Following this week's game, the Warriors travel to Northern State for a 6pm kickoff on Saturday, September 28th.

- Wayne State is receiving votes in this week's AFCA National Poll.
- The Wildcats opened the season with a 49-17 win vs. Missouri S&T, then defeated MSU Moorhead 44-17, before dropping a nail-biter to #11 Minnesota State, 35-28.
- WSC is averaging 40.33 points/game while holding opponents to 23 points per game.
- Wayne State uses a balanced attack, rushing for 172/77 yards/game and throwing for 204.33.
- Latravious Boyd and Dawson Forgy lead the backfield. Boyd has averaged 94.33 yards/game while Forgy has added 58.33 yards a game.
- Nick Bohn averaged 177.67 yards passing each game and adds 18.67 yards rushing per game.
