FAYETTE, Iowa - The Winona State University women's soccer team is set to square off at Upper Iowa University against the Peacocks on Sunday, Sept. 8 at noon.
The Warriors head into the first game of the season led by the 2024 WSU Offensive Player to Watch,
Abigail Williams a senior from Savage, Minn., and the 2024 WSU Defensive Player to Watch,
Callie Menzel a senior from Iowa City, Iowa. In the 2023 campaign, Winona Sate beat Upper Iowa 2-0 in Fayette, Iowa. Williams scored one of the two goals for the Warriors off of a penalty kick in last season match up against the Peacocks and Menzel playing all 90 minutes as well as leading the defensive blockade.
Winona State was tabbed at 12th in the 2024 NSIC Preseason Poll, released by the league in August. WSU collected 63 votes in the 2024 NSIC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, putting them behind Wayne State (70) and ahead of University of Sioux Falls (56).
