WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State men's basketball team will open the 2025 portion of their schedule at No. 5 Minot State on Friday, January 3rd and at UMary on Saturday, January 4th.
The Warriors, 10-3 overall and 5-2 in the NSIC, are receiving votes in the most recent NABC DII Coaches Poll after a pair of wins over Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota State before break. Tip-off against Minot State on January 3rd is scheduled for 7:30pm and the contest at UMary is set for a 5:30pm start on January 4th.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors are off to their best start since 2013 when they started the season 15-2.
- Winona State is 1-0 against ranked teams this season, defeating #21 Hillsdale College 86-69 on November 23rd.
- WSU is third in the conference in offensive scoring, averaging 77.5 points/game with an 8.6 scoring margin.
- Winona State averages 9.2 three-point field goals per game, good for second in the Northern Sun.
- WSU leads the league in free-throw percentage, shooting at a .779 clip from the charity stripe.
- Luke Haertle is third in the conference in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game.
- Isaiah Thompson grabs 9.3 rebounds per game, good for second in the NSIC.
- After this weekend's games, the Warriors will return home for a four-game homestand beginning on January 10th.

- The Beavers are 15-0 overall and 6-0 in the NSIC, earning them the No. 5 ranking in the NABC DII Coaches Poll.
- Minot State has a 17.7 scoring margin so far this season, averaging 82.4 ppg and allowing just 64.7 to opponents.
- The Beavers have the best defense in the league statistically, holding opponents to a .407 field goal percentage.
- Minot State shoots .395 from deep, which tops the NSIC.
- Caleb Van De Griend leads the league in rebounding with 11.9 per game and is second in scoring at 18.3 points/game.
- Jalen Cook (14.6), Ayouba Berthe (12.0), and Jaxon Gunville (12.0) all average double-figure scoring.
- Minot State defeated Winona State in Minot, ND last year, 77-70. The Warriors were victorious in the previous three meetings beforehand.
