WSU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HEADS TO MINOT STATE AND UMARY

WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University women's basketball is back in action after a 13-day hiatus as they travel to Minot State University and the University of Mary for contests on January 3rd and 4th.
 
The Warriors, who are 3-4 in the NSIC and 7-6 overall will look to start the 2025 portion of their season with a win at Minot State on Friday, January 3rd at 5:30pm. WSU will then travel to UMary for a 3:30pm tip-off on Saturday, January 4th.
 
Winona State Notes:
  • The Warriors have split each of the first NSIC three weekends, grabbing a win on the front end and dropping the backend contest each week. In NSIC play, WSU has yet to win or lose two consecutive games.
  • Winona State averages 66.6 points per game offensively and allows 68.6 ppg to opponents.
  • The Warriors are third in the NSIC averaging 8.1 three-point field goals made per game.
  • Olivia Gamoke leads the league with 36 made three pointers, averaging 2.8 makes/game.
  • Hailey Markworth notches 13.2 points per game, shooting at a .493 clip from the field.
  • After this weekend's games, the Warriors will return home for a four-game homestand beginning on January 10th.
 
Minot State Notes:
  • The Beavers are 3-10 overall and 2-4 within the NSIC.
  • Minot State averages 60.5 points offensively and allows 71.2 points/game to opponents.
  • Emma Mogen leads the offense, scoring 10.2 points/game while averaging 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
  • Lara Dobbins adds 10.1 points per game to be the only other Beaver in double figures.
  • Lorelei McIver grabs 5.0 boards each game to lead Minot State on the glass.
  • Minot State has defeated Winona State the last two times the teams have met, both of which being in Minot, ND.
 
UMary Notes:
  • The Marauders are 7-3 overall and 4-2 in league play.
  • UMary has won four straight contests, all of which being by at least 12 points.
  • UMary scores 68.4 points/game and allows 63.0 for a scoring margin of 5.4.
  • Bergan Kinnebrew is the biggest offensive threat, averaging 14.5 points/game.
  • Morik Hakim grabs 6.3 rebounds/game and adds 6.9 points per game.
  • UMary has had the upper hand against Winona State each of the past two seasons, winning by 16 points in both contests.
