WSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL READY TO TRAVEL FOR WEEKLONG ROADTRIP TEST

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team will open their 2025-26 season road contests against Upper Iowa University, Truman State University, and Maryville University.

Winona State will travel to Upper Iowa first on Tuesday, November 18th with tip off starting at 6:00pm. They will follow up with a pair of weekend road games against Truman State on Friday, November 21st at 3:00pm and Maryville on Saturday, November 22nd at 1:00pm.

Winona State Notes:
  • The Warriors start the season 1-1 after hosting the GAC/NSIC Challenge this past weekend.
  • Winona State enters the 2025-26 season ranked 12th overall in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Hailey Markworth was selected as WSU's player to watch. She averaged 28.5 mpg, 11.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, and 2 apg in the 2024-25 season.
  • Megan Schuman leads the Warriors in points-per-game with 11.0 while also averaging six rebounds per game.
  • Vivica Bretton leads Winona State in total assists with nine. She also is shooting 50.0% from three and is averaging five rebounds per game.
  • Winona State is currently shooting 33.6% from the field on 37-110 while averaging 57.5 points per game.
  • WSU is shooting 23.7% from the three points line and 56.3% from the charity stripe.
  • WSU will be under the direction of fourth-year head coach, Ana Wurtz, who will bring lots of experience to the Warriors.
Upper Iowa Notes:
  • UIU has started the 2025-26 season 0-2 after falling to Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech at the Wisconsin Dells Crossover.
  • Graduate Student, Ellie Foster leads the team in points per game with 6.5 while shooting 22.7% from the field.
  • Junior, Bryar Duwe leads the Peacocks with 4.5 rebounds per game.
  • Last season, Upper Iowa averaged 68.6 points per game and shot 42.2% from the field.
Truman State Notes:
  • TSU has started the 2025-26 season 1-1 after splitting their matches against Ursuline College and Cedarville University at the GLVC/G-MAC Challenge.
  • Junior, Mallory Ott leads the Bulldogs in field goal percentage (75.0%) with a minimum of 10 attempts and averages 11.5 points per game.
  • Junior, Mariann Blass leads the team in points per game with 14.5 and is shooting an electric 43.5% from the field.
  • Last season, Truman State averaged 70.7 points per game and shot 31.0% from the three-point line.
Maryville Notes:
  • Maryville has started the 2025-26 season 2-0 after defeating UW-Parkside and Roosevelt University handily.
  • Junior, Annika Pluemer leads the team with 3 steals per game and leads the team in points per game with 12.
  • Sophomore, Lindsey Schadewalt leads Maryville in total with three pointers made with 3 and a field goal percentage of 40.0%.
  • Last season, Maryville averaged 70.8 points per game and shot 32.7% from the three point line.
