WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team is set to begin conference play against Concordia-St Paul on Tuesday, November 25th at 6:00pm before returning home on Saturday, November 29th at 2:00pm against Michigan Tech.
The early season, midweek matchup against CSP kicks off the 2025-26 NSIC schedule for the Warriors.
The Warriors will then finally return home for a nonconference match against the Michigan Tech Huskies on Saturday, November 29th at 2:00pm. Saturday's game will be "Family Day" for the Winona State community. There will be free admission for a K-12 youth, courtesy of Fastenal Blue Team Sports. All adult tickets are just $5. There will be giveaways, interactive games for prizes, and on-court engagement opportunities throughout the game.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors started the season 2-3 after hosting the NSIC/GAC Challenge and traveling all last week.
- Winona State enters the 2025-26 season ranked 12th overall in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Hailey Markworth was selected as WSU's player to watch. She averaged 28.5 mpg, 11.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, and 2 apg in the 2024-25 season.
- Markworth also lead the team in rebounds per game (6.2) and points per game (11.2) in the 2025-26 season thus far.
- Vivica Bretton has dished out a time high of 18 assists this season.
- Sadie Jarmolowicz leads the Warriors in three pointers made with nine while shooting 37.5% from behind the arc.
- Alayna Suprenand leads the charge from the charity stripe, shooting 80% from free throw.
- WSU will be under the direction of fourth-year head coach, Ana Wurtz, who will bring lots of experience to the Warriors.
- Winona State is averaging 62.8 points per game while giving up 69.8 points per game and shooting 39.2% from the field.
#17 Concordia-St. Paul Notes:
- CSP was voted to finish second in the NSIC 2025-26 preseason poll collecting 202 points and second overall in the South division.
- CSP has started the 2025-26 season 3-1 after going 1-1 at the Central Region Showcase and are currently ranked No. 17 in the nation.
- Junior forward, Lauren Wilson leads the Golden Bears in points per game with 24.5 while shooting 54.2% from the field.
- Senior guard, Lydia Haack leads Concordia-St. Paul in three point shot percentage with 47.1% on 17 attempts.
- The Golden Bears are averaging 79.8 points per game while giving up 69.3 points per game to opponents.
Michigan Tech Notes:
- Michigan Tech has started the season a perfect 4-0 after dominating at the NCAA D2 Midwest Region Tip-Off.
- Junior guard, Alyssa Wypych leads the Huskies in points per game with 13.3 while shooting 45.5% from the field.
- Sophomore guard, Kendall Standfest leads the team in rebounds per game with seven after starting all four games this season.
- Michigan Tech has averaged 71.5 points per game this season while giving up 55.0 points per game to opponents.
