SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Winona State women's basketball picked up a dominating 87-58 win at Augustana with four players reaching double figures.
The Warriors jumped out to a commanding lead early and kept their foot on the pedal to pick up a big victory on the road to move to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the NSIC.
How it Happened
After giving up the game's first bucket, the Warriors answered with 13 consecutive points, capped off by
Alayna Suprenand's second three-pointer of the first quarter.
Vivica Bretton tallied 12 first-quarter points as WSU led 26-9 after one.
Winona State countered an Augustana push in the second quarter with an 11-2 run in the half's final three minutes as
Megan Schuman collected an offensive rebound putback as the buzzer sounded to give WSU a 47-21 lead at the break.
Augustana had no answer for Winona State's hot shooting, with the Warriors going 7-12 (58.3%) from the field in the third quarter. WSU extended their lead to as many as 34 points after a barrage of makes from downtown midway through the final frame. Winona State was able to hold on for the convincing 29-point victory.
