WARRIORS OUTRUN HUSKIES ON THE ROAD 72-66

Box Score WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team defeated the St. Cloud State Huskies on the road 72-66.

The Winona State women's basketball team came out on top in a NSIC road battle against the St. Cloud State Huskies. In a game with multiple lead changes, the Warriors would find themselves on the positive side of the scoreboard with a 72-66 win.

How it Happened:
The first quarter of play was a competitive battle with seven lead changes and both teams shooting 33.3% from three. After a couple of layups from SCSU's Paige Lambe, the Huskies would take a small lead of 13-9 at the four-minute mark. The Warriors would bounce back with back-to-back possessions with three pointers to end the quarter with a score of 15-16 in favor of St. Cloud State.

The Warriors would score the first bucket of the second quarter but would follow up with a shooting foul on a three-point shot, in which the Huskies would make all three plus and take the largest lead of the night, 23-17. Winona State would hold their own after multiple successful jump shots from Hailey Markworth and went into halftime with a score of 33-32.

Continuing the theme of the first half, the second half started with eight lead changes. The Warriors would find themselves on the wrong side of seven point run after some tough possessions from the Huskies making the score 46-39. But WSU would return the favor, going on a 9-0 run of their own to take a 48-46 lead going into the fourth quarter.

To finish the game there would be more back and forth action with both teams struggling to catch fire early with the score being 55-55 at the 5:11 mark. WSU would start to pull away late into the game giving them the ability to win the game from the charity stripe, and they delivered shooting 83.3% from the line giving the Warriors a comfortable 72-66 win.
