WINONA STATE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL READY FOR HOME WEEKEND VERSUS COUGARS AND MUSTANGS

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's basketball team is ready to host both The University of Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State University.

Currently sitting in seventh overall, Winona State will look to continue their battle for a top spot in the NSIC this weekend. The Warriors will battle the USF Cougars on Saturday, December 13th at 7:00pm and will follow up on Sunday, December 14th against the SMSU Mustangs at 4:00pm.

WSU is excited to announce all ticketing will be fully digital this year. All fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online before arriving at the venue. Cash will not be accepted at the gate.

Winona State Notes:
  • The Warriors have started the 2025-26 season with a 5-4 record after upsetting #16 CSP earlier this season and a more recent road win against St. Cloud State.
  • Winona State enters the 2025-26 season ranked 12th overall in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Winona State is averaging 67.4 points per game while giving up 64.4 points per game and shooting 42.3% from the field.
  • WSU will be under the direction of fourth-year head coach, Ana Wurtz, who will bring lots of experience to the Warriors.
  • Hailey Markworth leads the team in points per game (12.4), rebounds per game (6.3) and steals per game (1.2).
  • Vivica Bretton is the leader in assists for the Warriors with a total of 33 this season.
  • Natalie Meaux leads the charge from the charity stripe, shooting 75.0% from free throw.
  • Sadie Jarmolowicz leads the Warriors in three pointers made with 20 while shooting 43.5% from behind the arc and is averaging 32.3 minutes per game
  • Megan Schuman has put up a solid 9.8 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game after starting all nine games for the Warriors this season.
Sioux Falls Notes:
  • USF has started the season with a solid 6-2 record and are 3-0 in their NSIC games so far this season.
  • Sophomore Anna Vaaler leads the Cougars with 22.9 points per game with a 45.7% field goal percentage.
  • Freshman Krista Langager leads Sioux Falls in field goal percentage with 53.2% on 42-of-79 shooting.
  • As a team, Sioux Falls scores 74.9 points per game and allows opponents to score 66.9 points.
Southwest Minnesota State Notes:
  • SMSU has started the season 4-4, a much slower start than their 28-5 2024-25 season.
  • Senior Audrey Swanson leads Southwest Minnesota State in points per game with 16.9 on 51-of-120 shooting.
  • Junior Natalie Nielsen leads the Mustang in rebounds per game with 10.0 after only averaging 24.3 minutes per game.
  • As a team, Southwest Minnesota State scores 71.4 points per game and allows opponents to score 65.5 points.
