WARRIORS READY UP FOR FINAL HOME WEEKEND

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University men's basketball team is looking to continue momentum after a 2-0 week in a pair of home games against the University of Mary and Minot State University. 

The Warriors face off against the Marauders on Friday, February 14 at 5:30pm and Minot State University on Saturday, February 15 at 3:30pm. Saturday's game against the Beavers will be Winona State's Senior Night, honoring Connor Drew, Jhei-R Jones, and Isaiah Thompson
 

Winona State Notes:  

  • Winona State holds a 17-7 record overall and 12-6 inside the NSIC.  
  • The Warriors are coming off a weekend sweep, defeating Augustana and their contest on the road to Southwest Minnesota State.  
  • Connor Drew led WSU in scoring at 14.0 points per game while also corralling 8.5 rebounds per game last week. 
  • Isaiah Thompson collects 9.3 rebounds per game, leading the way for Winona State.  
  • Earlier this season the Warriors defeated UMary in Bismarck N.D. and dropped a three-overtime classic to Minot State. 
  • Luke Haertle leads Winona State in scoring at 17.3 points per game.

UMary Notes:  

  • The Marauders hold a 5-22 record on the year so far and 3-15 in the NSIC.  
  • The University of Mary head coach enters his third season at the helm of the UMary squad.  
  • The Marauders dropped their last contest against Minnesota State University Moorhead 76-58 on the road. 
  • Leading UMary in scoring is Jeremiah Jones averaging 11.7 points per game while also collecting a team high 6.3 rebounds per game.  
  • As a team the Marauders shoot 39.9% from the field and 31.1% from beyond the arc.  

Minot State Notes:  

  • Minot State holds an overall record of 21-6 and 12-6 in the NSIC.  
  • Head coach Matt Murken enters his 13th season leading the Beavers.   
  • As a team MSU shoots 48.6% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc.  
  • Caleb Van De Griend leads the Beavers in scoring at 19.8 points per game.  
  • Leading Minot State in rebounding is Caleb Van De Griend at 13.1 rebounds per game which leads all of division II.  
  • In their last contest Minot State dropped their game to St. Cloud State 91-81.
