WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State men's basketball team will square off against MSU Moorhead on Monday, March 3rd at 7:00pm in the NSIC Tournament semifinals at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD.
No. 7 seed Winona State has defeated Wayne State and Southwest Minnesota State in the NSIC Tournament to reach the semis. No. 3 seed MSU Moorhead defeated Augustana in the quarterfinals. The Dragons have had the upper hand on the Warriors this season, winning both matchups and handing WSU a 71-57 defeat on February 21st.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors are 21-9 on the season and finished 14-8 in the NSIC earning the seventh seed.
- Winona State has reached the NSIC Tournament semifinals for the second year in a row.
- Luke Haertle, the 2025 NSIC Newcomer of the Year, averages 17 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
- Isaiah Thompson leads the Warriors in rebounding at 8.8 per game.
- All five Warrior starters average double-figure scoring.
- Luke Haertle, Connor Drew, and Isaiah Thompson earned All-NSIC honors for Winona State.
- The Warriors are looking to reach the NSIC Tournament championship game for the first time since 2014.
MSU Moorhead Notes:
- The Dragons are 21-8 overall this season and went 15-7 in the NSIC to earn the third seed.
- MSUM has won nine straight games and 11 of their last 12.
- Logan Kinsey and Carson Johnson were All-NSIC First Team honorees while Jacob Jennissen was named to the Second Team.
- Carson Johnson leads MSUM in scoring, averaging 19.5 points per game.
- Jacob Jennissen pulls in 8.1 boards/game to lead the Dragons.
- MSU Moorhead has won two NSIC Tournament titles, coming in back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023.
The winner of Monday's game will advance to the NSIC Tournament championship game on Tuesday, March 4th at 7:00pm.
