WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University track and field team will travel down to La Crosse, Wis. to compete in the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-La Crosse on Thursday, April 17 and will compete through Friday, April 18.
The Warriors are going into the Phil Esten Challenge after having some great performances in the Minnesota State Open.
MacKenzie Wissbroecker took second in the long jump with 6.26m, which broke the Winona State school record as well as being the second best just in NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field.
WSU had several other athletes have amazing performances such as
Sasha Steinbach,
Caitlyn Casella,
Danielle Saydee, and
Karissa Birch, who competed in the 4x100m race and took first place.
Samantha Harke took third and
Mara Talabac took fourth in the 1500m race. In the 400m,
Alyssa Larson took second place. Steinbach also competed in the 100m race and took second place. In the 400m hurdles,
Regan Feit placed second.
Ella Voit took first place in the 5000m race along with
McKenna Taylor taking third, Violet Schutleis taking fourth, and
Madeline Palmer took fifth. Overall, the Warriors took second as a team with 104 points.
The Winona State University track and field team look to continue their stellar performances at the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-La Crosse in La Crosse, Wis. Starting on Thursday, April 17 and wrapping up on Friday, April 18 with events starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday and 3 p.m. on Friday.
