WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State University softball team will take on Concordia-St. Paul in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, May 1 at 5:30pm. The 2025 NSIC Tournament will be held at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls, SD.
The third-seeded Warriors defeated sixth-seeded Concordia-St. Paul twice during the regular season, picking up 13-3 and 10-1 wins in a doubleheader sweep on March 26.
Winona State Notes:Â
- The Warriors ended the regular season 40-13 overall and 21-7 in the NSIC.Â
- WSU earned the third seed in the NSIC Tournament
- Sam Keller leads the team with a .422 batting average, 47 runs, 68 hits, 17 doubles, four triples, .671 slugging percentage, 38 walks, and .527 on base percentage.Â
- Braelee Jodarski leads with 16 homeruns and 50 RBIs.Â
- Kiley Slaats leads the way with 12 stolen bases on 14 attempts.Â
- In the circle, Izzy Howe leads with a 2.10 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 176.1 innings pitched, 196 strikeouts, and.167 opponent batting average.Â
- Howe has also earned NSIC Pitcher of the Week after her performance this past weekend, which is the second time she has been nominated during the regular season.Â
- Head coach Greg Jones earned his 1,000th career win with Winona State in the doubleheader against Wayne State.
- The Warriors have won the NSIC Tournament a league-best seven times (1993, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2018).
Concordia-St. Paul Notes:Â
- The Golden Bears ended regular season 25-28 overall and 17-11 in the NSIC.Â
- CSP earned the sixth seed in the NSIC Tournament.Â
- Sydney Pelzer leads the team with a .399 batting average, 61 hits, 16 doubles, 13 homeruns, 61 RBIs, .758 slugging percentage, 23 walks, and .473 on base percentage.Â
- Alexis Monty leads with three triples and has 21 stolen bases off of 26 attempts.Â
- In the circle, Emmy Bowne leads with a 3.53 ERA, 125 innings pitched, and 53 strikeouts.Â
- Also in the circle, Erica McCullough leads with a 1.38 WHIP and opponent batting average of .266.Â
- This will be the Golden Bears fifth consecutive NSIC Tournament appearance and seventh appearance since 2015.Â
The winner of the quarterfinal matchup will advance to the NSIC Tournament semifinals on Friday, May 2 at 2:30pm.
