WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University football team will play its home opener of the 2025 season against Bemidji State University on Saturday, September 6th at 1:00pm at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
The NSIC matchup will be the first conference action of the season for both teams. The Warriors won last year's contest 31-28 after dropping three straight to the Beavers.
WSU is excited to announce all ticketing will be fully digital this year. All fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online before arriving at the venue.
Cash will not be accepted at the gate.
Winona State invites all fans to participate in the Warrior Game Day Experience, beginning at 11:00am at the intersection of Johnson and Mark streets on the campus of WSU. Kickoff for the home opener will be at 1:00pm in Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
The Warriors will continue the football luncheon this year at the Riverport Inn & Suites at 12pm every Thursday throughout the football season.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors enter the 2025 season voted to finish ninth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Brian Curtin is in his first season as head coach for the Warriors. Curtin brings a wealth of knowledge to the Warriors staff, as he is a former football student-athlete and graduate of Winona State. Curtin has been on the Warriors coaching staff since 1997.
- The Winona State offense looks to get back on track this week as they only scored seven points a week ago against a stout Minnesota Duluth defense.
- Winona State finished 3-3 at home last season and 3-2 in 2023.
- Winona State is 46-31-1 all-time against Bemidji State, with the teams being 5-5 in the last ten matchups.
- Jackson Flottmeyer looks to revamp the offense, after throwing 144 yards on 12-of-23 passing last week with 24 yards on the ground.
- Joe Sikma finished with six catches for 43 yards with Jim Curtin hauling in a 48-yard reception in last week's defeat.
- On the ground, Josh Buri scored the team's only touchdown to go along with his 22 yards.
- Defensively, Blake Schraufnagel led the way last week with nine tackles including one TFL. Jacob Anderson, Ethan Doucette, and David Nies all racked up five or more tackles against UMD.
- Travis Alvin forced the team's lone turnover with an interception in last week's contest.
- Following this week's game, the Warriors will hit the road and travel to Minnesota State University Moorhead for a 1:00pm kickoff on Saturday, September 13th.
(RV) Bemidji State Notes:
- The Beavers enter the weekend after falling 37-17 last week to Michigan Tech.
- BSU racked up 160 yards on the ground with 98 yards in the air in the loss at Michigan Tech.
- Bemidji was led by quarterback Connor Carver who ran for 96 yards on 14 attempts. He also scored the teams only two touchdowns on the ground.
- Kelly Imarion, Drayton Lehman, and Kaleb Miller all recorded three or more receptions for the Beavers.
- BSU had four players rack up six tackles a week ago with Owen Dukowitz recording an interception for the Beavers.
- Bemidji State recorded seven TFLs in last week's contest.
- Following this weekend, the Beavers will open their home schedule on Saturday, September 13th hosting (RV) University of Sioux Falls.
