WINONA, Minn. – The WSU women's basketball team will hit the road against Northern State University and the University of Jamestown this weekend.
Winona State will travel to Northern State first on Friday, January 16th with tip off starting at 7:30pm. They will follow up with against the newest member of the NSIC, the Jamestown Jimmies, on Saturday, January 17th starting at 5:00pm.
Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors are currently sitting at third overall in the NSIC with an 8-2 conference record and an 11-5 overall record.
- Winona State is averaging 72.4 points per game while giving up 66.1 points per game and shooting 43.8% from the field.
- WSU is shooting 32.9% from three-point land and is making 7.6 three-point shots per game. The Warriors are also shooting 72.8% from the charity stripe as a team.
- Hailey Markworth leads the team in points per game (15.8), rebounds per game (6.6) and steals per game (1.0).
- Vivica Bretton is the leader in assists for the Warriors with a total of 61 this season.
- Sadie Jarmolowicz leads the charge from the charity stripe, shooting 81.4% from free throw (min. 10 attempts).
- Jarmolowicz also leads the Warriors in three pointers made with 38 while shooting 45.2% from behind the arc.
- Jarmolowicz and Markworth average 34.6 minutes per game and 32.5 respectively, leading the Warriors.
Northern State Notes:
- Northern State currently sits at 9-7 overall and 4-6 in the NSIC after winning three of their last four conference games.
- Senior guard, Izzy Moore leads the Wolves in scoring with 19.2 points per game on 108-of-218 shooting.
- Graduate student, Megan Counts leads NSU in field goal percentage with 50.5% while also averaging 9.2 points per game.
- As a team, Northern State scores an average of 66.7 points per game and allows opponents to score 64.1 points.
Jamestown Notes:
- Jamestown currently sits at 4-10 overall and 2-8 in the NSIC after moving up from NIAA to the NCAA Division II level.
- Freshman forward, Allie Berns is leading the Jimmies with 14.5 points per game with a 53.1% field goal percentage.
- Sophomore forward, Jessika Lofstrom leads UJ in rebounds with 6.1 per game while also averaging 7.1 points per game.
- As a team, Jamestown scores an average of 61.1 points per game and allows 69.6 points.
