WARRIORS DOMINATE GOLDEN EAGLES BEHIND OFFENSIVE OUTBURST FROM JARMOLOWICZ

WINONA, Minn.- The Warriors women's basketball team took down the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles, 86-66, behind Sadie Jarmolowicz career-high 24 points.

Winona State controlled the first quarter, outscoring UMC 29-15. The Warriors never looked back defeating Minnesota Crookston by a comfortable 20 points.

How it Happened:
Megan Schuman kicked off the scoring for WSU tying the game at 2-2 at the 8:39 mark in the first quarter. Back-to-back baskets by Hailey Markworth and Schuman put the Warriors in front 10-6 with 5:37 left in the first quarter. Four points from the Golden Eagles Emma Miller knotted the game at 10-10 at 4:56. WSU offense exploded for a 19-2 run with seven points from Jarmolowicz and five from Markworth putting the game at a commanding 29-12 lead with 0:28 remaining in the quarter. Miller buried a three-ball at the horn to cut the UMC deficit to 29-15.

Alayna Suprenand drilled a three-pointer with 8:02 left in the half keeping the Warriors in the driver's seat at 33-18. Five points from Jarmolowicz gave WSU an 18-point advantage at 38-20 at the 5:48 mark. Megan Johnson made a layup at 1:56 putting WSU up 43-26. A free throw by Markworth closed the half at 49-27 Warriors.

Rayna Klejeski cut the edge to 53-38 after a layup at 6:43 kept the Golden Eagles within striking distance. Vivica Bretton knocked in a three-ball extending the WSU lead to 56-40 at the 5:38 mark. Jarmolowicz drilled another three-pointer putting Winona State up 65-42 with 2:53 remaining in the quarter. Markworth buried a jumper to close out the quarter at 72-49 WSU.

Bria Stenstrom made a layup at 8:08 remaining in the game extending the WSU edge to 79-54. Rachel Koenig entered the scoresheet with a jumper keeping WSU up big at 83-59 at 5:08. A three-ball by UMCs Natalie Mikrot cut the lead to 18 points at 84-66 with WSUs Koenig ending the scoring with a pair of free throws, giving Winona State the 86-66 win.
