WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State softball team will travel to Rosemont, Ill. to play in the Lewis Dome Invitational to face Wayne State University, Grand Valley State, Truman State, and UW-Parkside.
The Winona State Warriors will travel to Rosemont, Ill. and play against Wayne State University on Saturday, February 21st at 6:00pm followed by Grand Valley State at 8:00pm. To finish the weekend, WSU will face Truman State on Sunday, February 22nd at 10:00am and UW-Parkside later in the afternoon at 2:30pm.
Winona State Notes:
- Winona State currently holds a 6-1 overall record after sweeping Grand View in their season opener and going 4-1 at the NCAA DII Battle last week.
- Star pitchers, Izzy Howe and Jayda Berg have both started the 2026 season with a 3-0 record with Berg giving up zero earned runs and a WHIP of .430.
- Tiegan Mancuso has started the season with a batting average of .500 and an OPS of 1.101 with nine total hits.
- Batters Braelee Jodarski, Jenna James, Nicole Weinberger, and Ava Smith have all hit homeruns this season for the Warriors.
- Winona State is coached by Greg Jones who will be entering his 27th season with the Warriors and has collected 1,010 wins with only 351 losses.
Wayne State Notes:
- Wayne State is coached by Nicole Tines who is entering her fifth season with the Warriors and holds a 72-126 record.
- The Warriors have started the 2026 season 2-0 after winning their first two games at the Lincoln Memorial Invitational.
- WSU is led by sophomore DP Elly Koopman, who has a batting average of 1.000 on five at bats including one double and three walks.
Grand Valley State Notes:
- Grand Valley State is coached by Dana Callihan who is entering her 12th season with the Lakers and holds a 416-140 record.
- The Lakers went 27-26 in the 2025 season and 17-11 in the GLIAC, they finished last season on a loss to UW-Parkside in their conference tournament.
- GVSU will open their 2026 season at the Lewis Dome Tournament against Missouri S&T.
Truman State Notes:
- Truman State is coached by Ron Ferrill who is entering his fourth season with the Bulldogs and holds a record of 66-91.
- The Bulldogs went 26-25 overall last season and 14-14 in the GLVC, they finished last season with a split double header against Missouri – St. Louis.
- TSU softball has opened the 2026 season 3-7 after going 1-3 at the DII Branson Invitational and 2-4 at the Alvy Memorial Classic.
UW-Parkside Notes:
- UW-Parkside is coached by Kristin Ortman who is entering her eighth season with the Rangers.
- The Rangers went 29-24 overall last season and 14-13 in the GLIAC, they finished last season on a late conference tournament loss to Saginaw Valley State.
- UWP opens up the 2026 season in the Lewis Dome Tournament against Lewis University this weekend.
